Blackboard
Rippling Woods has a parent Blackboard website that provides all teachers web space to provide homework information, assignments, links... to their parents. It is required of all Rippling Woods teachers to keep an updated Blackboard site and share this information with your parents on Back to School Night. Please join me on Monday, September 16 after school for a voluntary opportunity for me to share information with you about how to update Blackboard and help you set up your page. You can access Blackboard through the AACPS homepage or by clicking on this link blackboard.aacps.org. Your parents can access Blackboard the same way but they will log-in using the following username and password.

I look forward to seeing you on Monday!

Quick guide to Blackboard
Blackboard Quick Starter Tips
- Log in with your AACPS network user name and password (the same as e-mail).
- Find the course, “What’s Happening at Rippling Woods”. For enrollment, contact me.
- Navigate your way to the area that you wish to update (example, click the team button, and then the folder). Then, click so that Edit is “On” (top right).
- Now, you can add new folders, items, and links (Hover over “Build Content” and select from the drop-down). It is best to organize this area by creating two or three main folders for your team first. Within each of those folders, you will want to add individual teachers.
- After a folder exists, click on it to view contents. From within a folder you can create new sub folders or you can create items, attach files or links, or add additional subfolders.
- To create a folder:
- Make sure Edit is “On” (upper right).
- Hover over “Build Content” and click on “Content folder”.
- Give it a short descriptive name and color.
- Provide a brief description in the Text box area.
- Ensure that Track Number of Views is set to “No”.
- Hit Submit.
- To create an Item:
- Make sure Edit is “On” (upper right).
- Enter the folder where you wish to put the item by double clicking on the folder.
- Hover over “Build Content” and select “Item”.
- Give a short descriptive name and color.
- Provide information in the Text box area.
- Ensure that Track Number of Views is set to “No”.
- Hit Submit.
- To create an external link:
- Make sure Edit is “On” (upper right).
- Hover over “Build Content”.
- Click on “Web Link.”
- Provide a brief name for the link.
- Either type or PASTE the full web address into the URL area. Note that you must use http:// at the beginning of the address.
- Enter relevant information about the link in the “Text” area. Click “Yes” to have it “Open in a New Window” (this is usually the better option).
- Ensure that Track Number of Views is set to “No”.
- Hit Submit.
- To Add Announcements: Click on the Announcements button. Click on “Create Announcement”. It is usually best to have only one “Permanent” announcement and all the rest as standard announcements. You can pick date ranges for availability, including having it turn itself ON in the future. Standard announcements will only be easily viewable for seven days. If you want it to appear on the main page longer than that, make it permanent. When you no longer need it there, modify it and turn permanent off.
